Closing the First Season
Mountain Vista High School has concluded the first season of CHSAA ice hockey for the school and the Douglas County School District. The season ended too soon, but for an inaugural season saw many steps toward success. MVHS Hockey would like to thank the coaches, players, student supporters, Booster Club members, and parents for making the season a success!
Hockey will return in the spring with several Douglas County schools fielding High Plains Hockey League teams, including Mountain Vista. In the meantime have a great off season and we will see everyone back here next fall!!!

There are a few other players that have been named as alternates in case players can’t make it. They will be notified if they are selected. All selections where made based on coaches voting from across the state. Congratulations to all our players that have been named above! Snowy WeekendThe past weekend was a complicated one for the team. What was supposed to be three straight road games turned in to one road game and two canceled games because of the snow storm that hit the Denver metro area on Friday. Thursday night the team traveled to Colorado Springs to take on Palmer in another penalty riddled game. Vista scored first in the opening period to take a 1-0 lead, but shortly after that Palmer scored to make the score 1-1, where it stayed until the final two minutes of the first period when Vista scored again to make it 2-1 at the end of the first. Midway through the second Vista scored again to give them a 3-1 lead that they held through the end of the second period and well in to the third. At the 11:35 mark Palmer scored a goal to make it 3-2 and followed that up with the game tying goal less than three minutes later at 14:23. Regulation time ended knotted at three. AT 6:42 in the OT the Golden Eagles scored to win the contest 4-3 and claim the full two points for the win. The hope was to have the chance to improve in the standings with two winnable conference games this past weekend. The snow storm put a kink in that plan as the second game against Fountain Vally was canceled on Saturday and rescheduled to Wednesday February 15th at 1:30PM at the Ice Ranch. Only five games remain in the inaugural season for the Golden Eagles. There are still five conference games to be played, including games against two fo the three teams ahead of them in the standings. Vista will have to put win streak together down the stretch to qualify for the Frozen Four to be held a Magness Area March 2-3. Four of the last five games are on local ice and the final game will be played at CSC in Monument. Come out and cheer the Golden Eagles on to the State Playoffs!!! |

See Hockey WIN Prizes!!Last Two Home Games Our next HOME game is 2/11 against Liberty at South Suburban. This will be a huge game for us. They are at the top of the standings and we need ALL the support in the stands possible. It is a Saturday game so hopefully there is no school conflicts to prevent getting students and families to the rink. It is "Hockey Mom" game night. Chuck a puck prize is a free 1 hour massage and we are working on a lunch gift card. We will also have some $20 off a massage giveaways. We encourage the moms to try chuck a puck and the men to try and win a nice Valentine's Day present for mom or honey! 2/13 is also a big game against Heritage. It is the last home game and a rival game as well. Start letting friends and family know about these two dates so they can get it on their calendars. I would really like to see us pack the stands for these two games. Facebook, facebook, facebook. Chuck a Puck for Heritage will be $25 gift card to Chili's, 2 movie passes and a pass for 2 to Comedy Works. That's a little something for students and adults. |
